Autodial www.twobarkingdogs.com
Autodial is a great feature. Press one button and it automatically calls a specific number. Just about everyone has their phone at work programmed to dial those important frequently used numbers at a single touch. Another great feature of autodial is that it can be used as a tool for great embarrassment.
This one brown-noser I knew had a 2nd line manager that used to forget to turn off his cel-phone when traveling. Someone re-programmed all his autodial keys to call the 2nd line manager's cel-phone. So one morning, 8:00am east coast time, this brown-noser came into work and went to make a phone call to boast to someone how great things are going. He presses a button and guess what.....
The brown-noser being confused, decides to try making another call. Again the 2nd line manager answers in not a so happy voice. But the brown-noser knows how to solve this problem. Just hang up. He'll never know who called. One problem. Cel-phones have caller id so not only did his 2nd line manager know he called up again but also knows he hung up on him.
The brown-noser would try to make other calls throughout the day but only to get the 2nd line manager each time. It didn't dawn on him until 3 days later that his autodial was messed up. He asked other people if they had this same problem. Most people said no but the smart ones would say, "Yes, we had a power glitch and it effected the phone system. Didn't you get the e-mail ? Oh, I guess the e-mail system was also effected by the glitch. "
After that he never used autodial again. As far as the 2nd line manager, he did have some loud words with the brown-noser when he got to see him in person.
